From Medical Supplies to Tartan Supplies
Meet Michael & Lisa LaPlant, who will be some of Men In Kilts newest Franchise Owners bringing the magic of the kilt to Charleston, SC. Michael and Lisa have been living in Charleston on and off for several years, but have been full time residents now since September 2015. Owning their own medical supply business for 20 years taught this power couple what it takes to not only run a business, but also to do it the right way.
“The biggest influences in my career and what made me start a company 20 years ago was all of the lousy bosses I had early on in my career,” explained Michael, “they made me realize that if I ever wanted to be successful, I would have to do it myself.” When Michael and Lisa sold their business and moved permanently to Charleston, they wanted to start a new business. However, this time they wanted more of a head start, so they looked into franchising. “We already know what it takes to build a successful business, “explained Michael, “we just needed a proven system to follow.”
This is where Men In Kilts enters the story! Michael was doing some research and came across an article talking about Men In Kilts, “I read about the business and thought that the brand and kilts were both unforgettable,” says Michael, “professional quality window cleaning services will make people remember our company while the kilt guarantees that they won’t forget our name!” Just like that, a bond was created between the kilt and Michael and Lisa.
“Owning homes in South Carolina for the past number of years we would see grungy looking guys in old beat-up pickup trucks pressure washing homes in our neighbourhood,” described Lisa. “We never noticed anyone doing window cleaning in the area, but we could fill that gap and offer all of Men In Kilts exterior and interior services and look professional.”
Michael and Lisa define happiness as creating a life for their family that gives them financial freedom and the opportunities that come with that freedom. For example, the first time around with their business 20 years ago they were able to teach their daughters that hard work drives success. This lead to them getting accepted to and attending great universities. This time around their family is a bit older, but they are still excited to create that same happiness and great opportunities for their family.
Chris Carrier, Men In Kilts CEO states, “Watch out for some Tartan clad vehicles driving around your local neighbourhoods soon in and around Charleston as Michael and Lisa official open. Men In Kilts offers professional quality window cleaning, gutter cleaning, pressure washing and snow removal so you don’t have to worry. We hope to see you around the neighbourhood soon, stay tuned for more of Men In Kilts, but remember… No Peeking!”.
