Trading Oil & Gas for An Ownership Opportunity (#Growth)
Kamloops, BC, March 1, 2017 – Former oil executives seize an investment opportunity – in themselves! Due to the economic downturn in Alberta, Ian & Kelly MacGregor had some decisions to make about their future. This story starts with Ian’s layoff and his desire to find something new and different. He came across an ad looking to hire and train Window Cleaning Technicians at Men In Kilts, in Calgary, AB. The position was different in every way from Ian’s previous work history but he was drawn to the brand and decided to apply.
Ian fell in love with the window cleaning industry and more importantly the systems and structure at Men In Kilts. He also embraced the lifestyle of working outdoors, doing physical work and perfecting his customer service skills. In the nine months since Ian joined the Men In Kilts team, he has provided window cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and snow removal services to many happy customers in Calgary. In fact, it is common to hear feedback like this from a customer of Ian’s, “Ian did a fantastic job on my windows and I was especially impressed with his accent! Does all of your staff come from Scotland? He’s a really great guy, too!”
One day when Ian came home from work, his wife Kelly said, “I’ve never seen you so happy.” That was perhaps the first seed planted in a story that lead to a life changing decision. One of the core values at Men In Kilts is Growth – personal and professional, profitable and planned. Ian made a resolution to live out each of the words in this statement of values. Ian and Kelly are excited to be investing in their future together by becoming the Franchise Owners of Men In Kilts in Kamloops, BC.
Men In Kilts has seen dynamic growth over the last year, adding 10 new locations to the Men In Kilts family. Chris Carrier, Men In Kilts CEO states, "Men In Kilts is a brand on target to become a household name across North America. Entrepreneurs are drawn to Men In Kilts, as the unique and fun brand that outshines traditional options in franchising! We have incredible support systems in place, which makes an investment in Men In Kilts a turn key operation." The company continues its expansion across North America, with prime locations still available to the right individuals.
“The response from family and friends has been overwhelmingly positive,” explains Ian. “We’re most excited about owning our own business and working for ourselves. Having worked in a Men In Kilts franchise prior to making this leap to being a franchise owner has been great. I’ve been impressed with the people, the systems we have in place that produce great customer service, and the overall leadership to make things happen.”
This is the 4th Men In Kilts location in British Columbia. Kamloops & the Shushwap are joining other successful BC Men In Kilts locations including Vancouver (our Founding location), Victoria (our First Franchise) and Kelowna (entering their 2nd full year of operation).
